Saturdays are the day our students of all ages come together to learn new skills and jam. We currently run our Saturdays from Lentils & Lather, Stockport Road, Marple. Our groups have evolved over time, led by the interests and needs of our community. We hope that our group content will continue to grow and change with our students.
Groups are not strictly age or ability limited - get in touch and we will let you know which groups might suit you best.
We use a WhatsApp channel to keep you updated each week where you can confirm your attendance in advance with one tap. Our channel keeps your phone number private so that younger students can see updates too.

Our Groups
10:30am - 11:00am
Pygmy Goats
Age: Approx KS1 (Ages 5-6)
The Pygmy Goats group are mostly focussed on ukulele skills but also spend time working on their rhythm with the drums and jamming with the bass, keyboard, and ocarinas. We are just starting to play songs together but new members will be able to catch up quickly!

Kids Songbook
Age: Approx 7 - 10 years old
The Kids Songbook group have been playing songs together for just over a year and have already performed together at the Maker's Market in Marple! They play a range of songs of different genres and are all multi-instrumentalists. This group has access to ukulele, guitar, bass, drums and keyboard and put together their own arrangements of their favourite songs.

Early Music
Age: Approx 3-5 years old
The Early Music group are just starting their musical journey with us! They are building basic skills and exploring different instruments through storytelling and games. We teach listening to the music over making lots of noise and follow the childrens' curiosity where we can.

Adults Songbook
Age: Adults 18+
Our adults songbook group have been playing together for a few years and play arrangements of a range of songs from different eras and genres. There is a range of instruments played in this group and we are always interested in hearing from musicians of all backgrounds and abilities. Under 18s are welcome to join this session with parental permission.
We now run our Saturday groups on an Honest Contributions system. This means you pay what you can by cash or QR code anonymously, and the funds we raise through the 'Honesty Box' will be re-invested in new instruments and resources, as well as funding our bigger events at other venues (see Events). We find that this system always averages the right amount for us to keep Saturdays running, and gives people flexibility in how and when they pay.
Our suggested contributions below are a guide for those who prefer to know what to pay, but these amounts are not required. If you are struggling, please pay what you can afford. If you think our sessions are worth more, please drop in extra when you can! You might wish to pay less if your child does not stay for the full session, or doesn't want to participate when they are here.
