Pygmy Goats is our new name for our group for younger kids on a Saturday morning. It is all about introducing children to different types of musical instruments and honouring the kinds of music they want to make. We play games and tell stories that help support them to start reading music and understanding how sound works in an age-appropriate way. For those who would like to start playing a more advanced instrument, we have ukuleles and guitars available to borrow.
Anyone who attends the Pygmy Goats session is welcome to stay and watch the older kids' songbook session afterwards and see if they might be ready to take part.

FAQs
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Kids group lessons cost £7.50 per child for a 30 minute session. These are small groups with no more than 5 children in each session.
Q. What will they learn?
A. In each session we try to cover a range of skills. We have a few segments that drop into the 30 minute session depending on what we are focussing on each week. We always play a song together, and we have ways for all children to participate in this regardless of skill level. Children will learn basic ukulele chords and strumming patterns, as well as simple rhythms using the percussion instruments. Our sessions end with an interactive story where the children provide sound effects!
Q. Can siblings come to watch?
A. Yes absolutely, and in the new year we will have toys and a colouring corner set up for those who are not taking part.
Q. What kinds of instruments will they play?
A. We have BoomWhackers, xylophones, maracas, guiro frogs and thunder drums and we are always expanding and changing our percussion collection to keep things interesting. We also have ukuleles and a guitar free to borrow.
Q. Is there an age limit?
A. There is no strict age limit on any of our sessions. We try to focus on development stage rather than age. As a general guide, these sessions are pitched for nursery and reception aged children (4-6) but younger and older kids are more than welcome if you think they would enjoy it!
